Ludwig's eyes flickered open and his cheeks burned when he noticed he was atop his ally. That is, until he realized he was on a battlefield, though the blush did not leave as soon as he would have liked. The two got up, Germany pickiing up Captain Machiavelli, and ran for cover. Suddenly, a soldier came running towards Germany, gun aimed at him. Italy didn't even think before he shot the man in his gun-holding hand and opposite leg. Germany's eyebrows lifted but they continued to run until they reached the tank they had started this firefight behind. They quickly ducked behind it as a flock of bullets flew overhead. Germany carefully placed the captain on the ground and turned to his ally.

"Feliciano?"

"Yes?"

"Thank you, I didn't expect that." Ludwig said.

"Of course, we made a promise, didn't we? We'll help each other when we're in a pinch. My word is good." Feli smiled.

"I know." Ludwig said, not noticing himself leaning towards the other.

"And I know you always keep your word." Feli said, only a few inches from from Ludwig.

"Always." Ludwig nodded, face a mere inch away from Feliciano's.
