Otto watched as Italy flitted about the kitchen, making sweets. The other man seemed to be running on nervous energy but he didn't seem scared, just... sad. Otto bit the inside of his cheek. This was not how Holy Rome had imagined his reunion with his beloved.

Otto remembered fantasizing about the day he dame back to his sweet Ita-chan. Planned every moment of their relationship, starting with courting her and ending at the wedding ceremony. He could just see Ita-chan gliding down the aisle and Romano- reluctantly- giving her away. He recalled how the lace-veil would have felt as he moved it from her cutely blushing face; heard how Miss Hungary would have sniffled in joy; and seen how his little bruder would have been in awe at his Amazing bruder and bride.

Otto also remembered when these dreams had bee shattered. Otto'd gone and asked France how Ita-chan was doing. When France had revealed Italy's true gender, Otto had thought it an elaborate prank. He was wrong and France had insisted but Otto had denied it; refused it for the better part of a decade. And now? Now he'd wished he'd never stopped. Now, he wished he knew how to fix this and make Italy happy.

Of course, Otto could return him to Ludwig but the younger man just pissed Otto off. He didn't know what or why it was but Otto seethed at the idea of letting Ludwig win. Anything.
